PG Hospital (BSMMU)

Name as BSMMU ( Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University) basically up gradation of the Institute of Postgraduate Medicine and Research ( IPGMR ) , popularly known as PG . The University offers courses in MD , MS, M.Phil , MDS, Diploma and FCPS .

IPGMR established in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) and the Government of Pakistan in December 1965 , as the government controls the University Institute for medical research and education. He was placed on buildings and hotels Shahbagh missing , once a luxury hotel in Dhaka in Shahnagh . Since 2010, many health institutions / medical and public organizations have been under a common bond as BIRDEM , BIHS , DMC , NICVD , itor and many others. In several post-graduate courses that many foreign students study .

It was Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib renamed to Medical University and the Law (No. 1 , 1998), the Jatiyo Sangshad after the first President of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman .
College is now an autonomous body governed by 24 party members and includes 36 departments 4 faculties. It has a compact campus in the hospital with 1500 beds . It is also equipped with modern academic libraries with different digital libraries.
Campus has 5 main multistoried buildings that are identified as blocks A, B, C, D and Cabin Block.

• Block A ( eight-story building ) that takes the library , conference room , meeting facilities , the hostel students , dental faculty and blood services .
• The block B is a 6-story building that houses the nursing rooms and administrative offices rooms. It is the original hotel building Shahbag .
• Block C includes the 10-story hospital .
• Block D, 17-story building , which houses several laboratories and emergency units .
• Cabin Block is dedicated to the emergency room and other outpatient various departments.
The new devices are coming to expand the existing campus to the north and west.
